March News

Our theme for March was Animals and to complement this our children visited the farm, as well as going to the local park on a bug hunt.

Science week was a busy week, the children participated in many investigations as well as visiting the Science Museum and the Royal Observatory Greenwich.

We also had a visit from a mobile zoo and enjoyed a sensory sessions where we could feel the different textured animals. For science week we have explored with magnets and have engaged in activities based on Old Macdonald.

This month our theme has been animals and we have enjoyed various animal activities. We visited woodlands farm where we saw pigs, cows, chickens sheep and baby lambs. We also enjoyed a visit from a mobile zoo where children got to see and touch different animals. Our vet role play area has been enjoyed by all as well as our under the sea and jungle role play areas.

This month the children have been continuing to learn phonics each day. During science week the children were lucky enough to visit the royal observatory. The children have learnt about minibeasts and where they live. We made minibeast pizzas! Look at me move- Einstein
January’s theme for our baby room has been ‘look at me move’. The babies have explored the different ways they can move by rolling, crawling, walking and dancing. Our babies enjoyed learning the song ‘head, shoulders, knees and toes’ and it’s now favourite song amongst our babies. Our older babies are becoming confident in using the stairs and they have all enjoyed discovering the outdoor garden by climbing the steps and coming down the slide.

Transport- Darwin
Choo-Choo! So much fun has been had in our toddler room with children experiencing different modes of transport. The children went on a train to see what they could see and become train spotters for the day. One of our focus books was ‘Whatever Next’ so children made rockets and watched them lift off into the sky! The children have explored in different role play areas such as an airport, train station and garage and this helped to build their knowledge on understanding the world. Children have created vehicles using 2D shapes and lots of number recognition has taken place within the number sorting garage.
