At Monkey Puzzle Sidcup we take full advantage of the specialisms and the expertise of our staff, Davinder one of the Directors is a qualified science teacher, she plans and delivers science lessons and STEM sessions that allow the children to build on skills gradually. Not only do these sessions cover the STEM areas but can also be cross linked to the 7 areas of the EYFS curriculum.

SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING AND MATHEMATICS

STEM education stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. STEM education has been at the forefront of all  learning at all different ages and stages.  The world is dependant on these keys areas of learning; our general wellbeing and development is based on our knowledge of these areas.

The pedagogical principles underpinning engineering education emphasise innovation, invention, investigation, creativity, teamwork, enterprise, perseverance and responsibility and extend the skills, attributes and capabilities of learners through the application of:

  • high levels of scientific and mathematical understanding
  • solution-oriented approaches
  • a range of problem-solving techniques
  • systems approaches
  • modelling and simulations.

Making the links between curriculum areas explicit to learners illustrates the interdisciplinary nature of STEM careers.

These photos can show how the activities capture the children’s attention, we are inspiring and challenging our children. Today’s curious explores make tomorrow’s STEMHEROES!
